My goal right now is to eat more salads on the regular. Oh– and to join Yoga ASAP! Consuming salads daily can get pretty boring but thanks to Pinterest, I’ve found many salad inspirations that are drool-worthy. Made a very delicious and light salad recently that had to be shared. It was a berry salad with champagne pear vinaigrette which was so perfect for the season.
Ingredients include artisan lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and assorted honey roasted nuts.
How did I make the champagne pear vinaigrette? I bought it from Trader Joe’s! It has the tiniest chunks of gorgonzola cheese. So yumm.

The folks down at The Michigan Urban Farming Initiative see urban farming and gardening as the opportunity to educate and involve the community. Food insecurity is a problem they take to heart. Through learning new skills and forming a connection with nature, the people of Detroit have a new way to access a healthy lifestyle.
Farm manager, Pinky Jones, gave us a tour of the grounds as she went about her daily tasks. She tries to rotate interesting plants like pink banana squash and black flowers into the mix. These oddities capture imaginations and get people interested.
